Explore the BioID Web Service
BioID offers a face and voice biometric authentication service - the BioID Web Service (BWS) - using the benefits of the cloud infrastructure provided by the Microsoft Windows Azure platform. Customers can easily enhance the security and functionality of their web, cloud, and mobile applications by adding advanced BWS multimodal biometric technology to their existing infrastructure.
BioID Web Service – powerful biometrics implemented easily
BioID Web Service (BWS) is a cloud-based online service providing powerful multimodal biometric technology to the customer. User presence is verified through highly accurate face and voice recognition, which is as intuitive and user-friendly as taking a selfie and as trustworthy as a face-to-face transaction. Implemented as ‘Biometrics as a Service’ it can enhance the security of existing infrastructures in an easy way, avoiding costly redesign and reimplementation. As a cloud computing service it dynamically scales up to any performance or space requirement, making it applicable for a wide range of usage scenarios.
All data transfer to and from BWS is secured with strong TLS/SSL encryption. This mitigates the risk of eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks.
Unified user authentication
In today’s omni-channel environment, service providers must be able to support a seamless user experience across all channels — desktop, mobile, and in-person. BWS makes it easy to offer the same authentication experience for all channels.

Privacy of user data
A clear separation between biometric and media data used by BWS and other sensitive data at the customer's systems is assured by storing only anonymous user data. This data is identified by a Biometric Class ID (BCID) assigned by BWS to all data with no information about the user’s identity. This anonymous data processing allows the design of compliance-aware services and applications.
Furthermore, BWS stores no photos, only a template: an irreversible mathematical representation of the person’s unique features, from which no photo can be reconstructed.
Finally, BWS templates are revocable – a compromised template can be deleted and a new template generated in its place.
To prevent an impostor from accessing someone else’s account using a photo or video of the authorized user, BWS comes with liveness detection — a ”live check“ — to make sure that submitted images come from a live person in front of the camera. Liveness detection is optional but recommended in most applications.
